TANG Aluminum tripod chair 3D print From Olivier Védrine - Salon d’accueil - Collection 1993/2026

In December 1992, the Mobilier National commissioned Olivier Védrine to design a furniture collection for a reception lounge, comprising a sofa, a console desk, a chair, a coffee table, shelving units, a screen, a light fixture and a mirror.

Among these designs, ARC produced the Voovw console, a contemporary reinterpretation of an 18th-century model that has become one of the most iconic pieces in the institution's contemporary collection. Tang, the tripod chair designed to accompany the console, remained at the prototype stage.

In 2025, more than thirty years after the original commission, the Mobilier National is bringing Voovw and Tang to life through a new edition, complemented by a side table and a mirror.

Over the past three decades, advances in manufacturing technologies—particularly metal 3D printing—have made it possible to realize forms that were once technically out of reach. Combined with traditional craftsmanship, including bronze casting and foundry techniques, these innovations enable ARC and its publishing partners to reduce prototyping constraints while opening new possibilities for creativity and bold design.

Through their visionary design, innovative manufacturing process and timeless aesthetic, Olivier Védrine's creations appear more contemporary today than ever before.

From the Mobilier national Collections to Villa Albertine, New York - 2023

Inspired by the Art Deco period, as well as by his keen sensitivity to detail, colour and materials, designer Hugo Toro selected eleven pieces from the Mobilier national collections to redesign the Atelier at Villa Albertine in New York. Among them is Olivier Védrine's "Vlanng" coffee table (1993), in hammered stainless steel.

A bold and distinctive choice. The spiral-shaped legs, balancing provocation with playful simplicity, reveal an unmistakably original creative vision. Their sculptural form reflects Olivier Védrine's singular approach to design, where material, movement and craftsmanship merge into a timeless and expressive piece.
